Read-aloud story
The Countess’s Dress
A calm story, a colouring studio and simple observation questions for children aged four to six.

Maria lives in a large house with thick walls and high towers. Today a beautiful dress is waiting for her.
“Which colour shall I choose?” Maria asks.
On the table are a golden ribbon, a blue flower and a small piece of red cloth. Outside she hears horses on the stones. Bread is baking in the kitchen and birds are singing in the garden.
Maria chooses the golden ribbon. “It reminds me of the sun,” she says.
She has a small lion embroidered on her dress. Not because the lion is angry, but because it is brave.
Then Maria walks to the large window. In the distance she can see the woods and the towers of the castle.
“Sometimes a dress tells a story,” Maria says. “Which colours would you choose?”
